What is ShopSavvy?

In 2008 Rylan Barnes introduced himself to me at one of our startup happy hour events. He had a great idea for a comparison shopping application he called GoCart. The idea was simple, turn your cell phone into a barcode scanner. Shortly after we teamed up the application won Google’s Android Developer Challenge and became an overnight success. Soon after we renamed the application ShopSavvy and the rest is history. The application is a top ten hit on Android and after only three months on the iPhone platform it is the 154th most popular iPhone app of all time (out of 200,000). More recently we released our barcode scanning technology to developers for FREE. The idea was simple, make barcode scanning a feature of any application.
